This week in history…

April 24 :

On this day in 1800, the Library of Congress was established. The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections.

April 25:

On this day in 1953, in the journal Nature, James Watson and Francis Crick published a paper that first described the structure of DNA.

 In 2003, the Human Genome Project announced that it had finished identifying and mapping the genes in human DNA.

April 26: 

Frederick Law Olmsted was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1822 on this day. He is known as the founder of American landscape architecture and designer of New York’s Central Park. He also designed Rochester’s HighlandGenesee Valley, and Seneca Parks.
