Harry Potter revisited

Remember when they had to create “adult” covers for the Harry Potter books because grown-ups wanted to read them but were embarrassed to be reading a “kid’s” book?  Too bad they didn’t go straight to M.S. Corley, an artist who recently re-imagined the covers to all 7 Harry Potter books.

The first book is my favorite cover – I would totally read that book!

Cover art has a lot to do with why we choose the books we read and while there’s always the good book with a bad cover to prove the old adage, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” here in the real world we know that if we don’t want to pick it up, we’re never gonna get as far as reading it.

Check out Corley’s blog for a lot more fun book inspired art!

What do you think – would these HP covers make you more, or less likely to read the 7 book series?

Graphically novel additions

We’ve got a whole slew of new graphic novels in the teen section – be sure to check them out!

This over-sized graphic novel is chock-full of eye candy with a mixture of watercolor, black & white sketching, and photography!

Any art, history, or Lewis Carroll fans will want to be sure to check out this gorgeous new addition to our graphic novels!

Whether you saw the movie or read the book, you’ll love experiencing this creepy off-kilter story from the viewpoint of P. Craig Russell, a real pro in the graphic novel world.

A new graphic novel about vampires, what’s not to love?

Warning: Not for the faint-hearted where blood is concerned…

This beautiful new Canadian graphic novel is all the buzz among graphic novel fans and librarians alike!  Check it out and see what all the fuss is about.

If you like your graphic novels complete with super heroes, this one’s for you.  My personal favorite of the new batch, this quick read features some stunning artwork, dynamic characters, and a good old-fashioned saving the world escapade.

And it never hurts that the author is an honest-to-goodness rock star!
